Lee and Ditko conceived the character as the good orphan being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and as a teenager, having to deal having the normal struggles of adolescence as well as to those of a costumed crime-fighter. Spider-Man's creators gave him super stamina and agility, the ability to embrace to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs employing wrist-mounted devices of his own invention, which he calls "web-shooters", and behave to danger quickly with his "spider-sense", enabling him to combat his invaders. And later in his life founded his person company call Parker Industries.
When Spider-Man first appeared in some early 1960s, teenagers in superhero witty books were usually relegated to role of sidekick to the central figure. The Spider-Man series broke ground by featuring Bob Parker, the high school student responsible for Spider-Man's secret identity and with which "self-obsessions with rejection, inadequacy, and loneliness" young readers could relate.
While Spider-Man had all the makings of a sidekick, unlike previous teen heroes these sorts of as Bucky and Robin, Spider-Man suffered no superhero mentor like Captain The nation and Batman; he thus had in order to learn for himself that "with incredibly good power there must also come incredible responsibility"a line included in an articles box in the final panel associated with the first Spider-Man story but later retroactively attributed to his guardian, how the late Uncle Ben.
